Joint Meeting with AWS — Neutrino Focusing Horn and Stripline Welding
Speaker: Adrian Orea - Mechanical Engineer at Fermi Forward Discovery Group in Batavia, IL. Topic: Neutrino Focusing Horn and Stripline Welding. Creating a focused beam of neutrinos requires large aluminum magnetic focusing horns that run large amounts of current to create a corrective torodial magnetic field. Two crictical processes for these horns are CNC TIG Welding of the inner conductor and Friction Stir Welding (FSW) of the striplines. this requires unique welding capabilties and a high level of quality inspection. This joint meeting with the American Welding Society covers the engineering and inspection challenges involved.

Speaker: Jean Bridge — ASNT Fellow, Caterpillar Engineering Specialist. This presentation covers employer-based certification programs and the validation of third-party certifications in the NDT industry, examining best practices and compliance requirements.
